NEXT MEDICAL CAMP IN DECEMBER 2011
Next Medical Camp is due to be held in December 2011 at Bhalo Pahar Health Centre. Dates will be confirmed shortly.

MEDICAL CAMP ON 10-11 NOVEMBER 2011

Bhalo Pahar Medical Camp held on 10th & 11th of November 2011 at Bhalo Pahar Health Centre has been a success. One Hundred and fifteen (115) patients turned up for check-up and were attended to by the visiting group of four (4) doctors, comprising of an eye specialist, a skin specialist, a heart specialist and a general physician.

Poetry Camp on 14th-15th August Every Year
Next Poetry Camp is scheduled on 14th-15th August 2012 at Bhalo Pahar.

Success of 2nd June Programme
The musical rendering of Sukumar Ray's poetry, "ABOL TABOL" on 2nd June, 2010 at Gyan Manch, Kolkata has been a huge success, thanks to the audience.

Bhalopahar Receives Telegraph School Award
Bhalo Pahar School won the Patton School Award for 2008 from The Telegraph, instituted for excellence in teaching by caring about environment.

 
Events and Festivals (Upcoming)
Inter Village Football Tournament 
 
Date: 30 August - 1st September
Location: Bhalopahar

The anniversary day ( 1st September ) inter village football tournament ( 40 teams) is organized and sponsored by Bhalopahar and conducted by a local youth club that takes place each year. A haat ( village marketplace), cock fighting, singing and dancing provide the sideshows. Tree planting ceremony is organized each year on that very day. This is done to encourage the young people around to the cause of Bhalopahar.

 
The Day of HOLI Festival - Polash Mela 
 
Date: (During Spring)
Location: Bhalopahar

A two day extravaganza with all night shows of local theatre ( Jatra), myriad folk dances : popular ones like Chaou. The tribal come forward in costume dancing and swaying in rhythms with drums and flutes. Locals burst into impromptu folk songs, watch magic and shadow -graph shows from town. Often shows run overnight into morning. Some tribal men recite indigenous poems to entertain their community.
